Fireplace doesnt start?

I have a gas fireplace. In an apartment building. Turn it on by flipping the switch on and off. This morning, I had it on and suddenly there was this like echoey boom and the fireplace turned off. But the starter light that's always on turned off too and now I can't turn the fireplace on. I don't know what else to do beside flip the switch on and off. I checked the power thing on the wall that has the resetting options for lights, fridge etc. and there is no fireplace option. How do I get back that starter light or how do I turn the fireplace on. thank you.
