RE: Judy Garland - I recently watched "Meet Me in St. Louis" and wondered?

Judy Garland *was* America's sweetheart; she started out in Hollywood when they still experimented on child actors like they were guinea pigs and gave her lots of different prescription drugs to stunt her growth, help her growth, etc. Judy Garland is from Minnesota, she played Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz" (which garnered her fame and also began her lifelong addiction to pills) and starred opposite Mickey Rooney in a number of different films in the 30's and 40's. She is also the mother of Liza Minelli and Lorna Luft.
