Babies sleeping in pack and plays?

Never heard of that. I'd think it'd be safer than a crib, considering the mattress is far thinner and the sides are mesh rather than wooden slats. My son slept in a pack and play for most of his first year and, if he was supposed to suffer a horrible fate because of it, he's been a delightful failure...
