Is Religion the Apathy of Humanity and Will we be Happier when its Gone? Is it holding back the species? Why?

Religion doesn't make us human or give us morals. I'm athiest and im human, I think and feel. Morals aren't created by religion, they are forced apon. Of course, if a religion is kept to yourself, makes you happy gives you any necessary hope and isn't inflicted on anyone else I think it wonderful. But. For example millions was spent on the pope visiting Britain. THIS is where religion takes the... Wee wee. And where we'd bE better off without it.
