Why do sims in sims 3 become invisible inside the house. Their plumbobs get fuzzy instead of diamond shaped.?

So far, if the invisible sim goes outdoors he/she reappears...but becomes invisible when he/she goes back into the house...Alternately, different sims become invisible and reappear..
